The stunning pearl gown that Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o wore to the Academy Awards was stolen in a Hollywood heist that reads like a movie script. The Calvin Klein number, fashioned from 6, 000 white pearls and valued at $150, 000, was lifted from the actress hotel room at the London West Hollywood.
Nyong’o had a large entourage, including friends, makeup artists, hair stylists and fitters, and many of them had access to her hotel room keycards, a source told The News.
The sheriff’s department said the dress was swiped at some point Wednesday evening when Nyong’o was out of the room, but released no other details on the crime.
“It’s a terribly unfortunate situation and we are working with law enforcement on the investigation,” the hotel said Thursday in a statement.
Nyong’o tried to file a police report immediately, but couldn’t do so herself, since she does not own the dress. It was on loan from Calvin Klein, the first source added.
